Chocolate and Chip Escape Holiday Death

By Cathy Blankenship, Editor-in-Chief

Turkeys, Chocolate and Chip, were pardoned by President Joe Biden from this year's Thanksgiving feast.

United States presidents could lead back as far as the Lincoln administration, but it was made an official act as president in 1989 under George H.W. Bush.

Keeping tradition alive, Biden and the first lady were joined by Ronald Parker, Chairman of the National Turkey Federation, to pardon Chocolate and Chip at the Whitehouse on Monday.

“There’s no ballot stuffing. There’s no fowl play. The only red wave this season’s gonna be if German shepherd Commander knocks over the cranberry sauce on our table,“ Biden bantered.

Coincidentally, Biden’s favorite ice cream flavor is chocolate chip! Which he’s mentioned several times before in other discussions.

After their pardon, the two will spend the remainder of their time at North Carolina State University. If you are any other turkey, try your luck again next year!

Joe Biden closed out the Thanksgiving celebration with some inspiring remarks, “This is a special time… in the greatest nation on the Earth, so let’s be thankful.”
