COVID-19 Updates

The community transmission level in Porter County is LOW, according to the Indiana Department of Health

  • Between August 22nd and September 20th, 2022, there have been 1,087 confirmed cases in Porter County, which includes new infections and reinfections

  • As of September 20th, there have been 23 new infections in Porter County, 8 less than the previous 7-day average

  • 21.9% of cases are reinfections

  • Since August 22nd, there have been 4 deaths, with 0 in the past week

  • The highest number of cases has been in the following age groups:

    • 115 in ages 20-29

    • 158 in ages 30-39

    • 149 in ages 40-49

    • 154 in ages 50-59

    • 158 in ages 60-69

    • 101 in ages 70-29


Portage High School recommends the following precautions to mitigate the spread of COVID-19:

  • Social distance when possible

  • Wear a face mask

  • Wash hands thoroughly and often

  • Screen for COVID-19 symptoms, including:

    • Fever

    • Sore throat

    • Cough

    • Muscle aches

    • Chest pain

    • Fatigue

    • Headaches

    • Loss of taste and smell

  • Regularly test for COVID-19

  • If a positive test occurs, isolate for 10 days

    • When returning to school after isolation is complete, students must wear a face mask for 5 days
